POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is focused on the delivery of a reliable and capable performance from high speed bottling and packaging lines and areas where the teams take ownership of issues, performance management and continuous improvements to ensure daily KPI targets are consistently achieved or exceeded. This position works closely with manufacturing technicians, quality technicians and production supervisors. The position is considered the owner of the line equipment and as such will be responsible to coach and advise production operators on adjacent shifts. The position supports and drives all Lean Manufacturing goals, Including all 6S processes and good communication to the production teams and management. Helps develop and maintain a customer/supplier relationship with the production teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adjust, change over, repair and maintain high-speed packaging machinery including counting, bagging and bottling equipment in a clean room setting, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's specifications, procedures of the machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Observe equipment in operation and confer with operators to detect and diagnose mechanical defects or malfunctions, utilizing knowledge of mechanical functions and performance characteristics of equipment. Visually inspect and listen to machine and equipment to locate cause of malfunctions
  • Disassemble equipment and machines to gain access to problem area using hand tools and power tools. Remove defective parts. Examine form and texture of parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems
  • Remove and replace worn or defective parts, using hand tools and power tools and following blueprints, diagrams, and service manuals. Realign and adjust components using tools and following diagrams. Lubricate and clean parts. Start machine and equipment to test operation following repair
  • Assemble and install new equipment and machinery following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications
  • Locate vendor to obtain parts or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Select and order parts as needed. Track and maintain inventory of repair parts
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Change over equipment to different size formats and packaging components according to established guides, procedures, and/or experience
  • Make continuous improvements and adjustments to equipment to increase speed and efficiency, improve product yield and reduce downtime.
  • Promotes safety awareness and works within the ISO and EHS guidelines.
  • Maintains and updates MSDS book and on-line program.
  • Ability to performed facility maintenance when needed and directed
  • Operates all equipment in a safe and professional manner, while completing tasks on a timely basis.
  • Keeps work area clean and well organized and assists in keeping entire facility in the same condition.
  • Works within the guidelines of ISO and EHS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 to 4 years’ experience preferred
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferred education: AA Degree/Vocational
  • Mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels in organization
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
