Position Title and Summary

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible of performing diagnosis and preventive maintenance services as well as inspect, diagnose, and repair on a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. This role supports all aspects of the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles, machines, equipment, and facilities.

Shop Manager

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services
  • Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment
  • Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns
  • Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
  • Assist other mechanics in the completion of project work
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday
  • Required to exert physical effort in handling heavy objects throughout the workday
  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.)
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Must frequently lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Some regional travel required
