Job Title: Construction Superintendent

Location: Slidell, LA

Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Concrete Superintendent to oversee all concrete-related aspects of their commercial construction projects in Slidell, LA. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of concrete construction techniques, materials, and equipment, along with strong leadership abilities to effectively manage on-site teams. This position offers a competitive salary of $25-30 per hour, commensurate with experience, along with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all aspects of concrete construction on commercial projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating activities with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  2. Provide leadership and direction to on-site crews, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  3. Oversee the installation, placement, and finishing of concrete structures, including foundations, slabs, walls, columns, and other components, while maintaining quality control and adherence to project plans.
  4. Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on the job site.
  5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other team members to resolve technical issues, address design changes, and optimize construction processes.
  6. Conduct regular site inspections and quality assessments to identify potential issues, ensure workmanship meets quality standards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  7. Coordinate the procurement and delivery of concrete materials, equipment, and tools to support construction activities and meet project milestones.
  8. Keep accurate records of daily progress, labor hours, material usage, and other relevant data to track project performance and report on project status to management.
  9. Manage subcontractor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee subcontractor work to ensure alignment with project requirements and expectations.
  10. Provide training, mentoring, and support to field personnel, promoting skill development, safety awareness, and teamwork to achieve project goals.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete construction, with a proven track record of successfully managing commercial projects from start to finish.
  2. Extensive knowledge of concrete materials, techniques, forming systems, reinforcement methods, and finishing processes.
  3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate, delegate tasks, and motivate teams to achieve performance goals.
  4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  5. Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills to address challenges and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
  6. Thorough understanding of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and best practices for construction site safety.
  7. Experience with project management software and tools for scheduling, budgeting, and reporting (e.g., Procore, Primavera, Bluebeam).
  8. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to meet project deadlines and support construction activities.
  9. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to various job sites within the designated area.
  10. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
  • Additional certifications related to concrete construction and project management are advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at heights.
  • Stamina to withstand long hours of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling on uneven surfaces.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment.
  • Excellent vision and depth perception for inspecting workmanship and reading construction documents.
