LOCATION

This position is a 100% in person role. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person on all scheduled work days.  


Description

The primary function of this position is to utilize coaching and leadership skills to manage drivers and achieve specific goals and KPIs. These goals and KPIs include meeting pick-up and delivery requirements, maximizing revenue, driver productivity and other established company goals, retaining drivers, and achieving an excellent safety record.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review driver routing and check calls to determine driver location and estimated delivery times.
  • Receive load assignments from customer service and review to ensure the appropriateness of such driver work assignments.
  • Dispatch loads to the drivers (issue load information, loading instructions, directions, routing, and fuel information).
  • Call customers to obtain and provide information as needed and schedule loading/delivery appointments, as necessary.
  • Notify Customer Service Department of issues/changes that might impact customer expectations or affect load assignments.
  • Promote safety throughout all areas of operations, including the dispatching of loads in accordance with the driver’s hours of availability and hours of service.
  • Focus on driver retention by understanding driver requirements/preferences, by monitoring driver performance to ensure driver requirements are being met, and by keeping drivers informed and motivated.
  • Identify, track, and resolve performance issues by conducting driver evaluations and driver route and hold meetings.
  • Resolve driver conflicts, problems, and requests with respect to matters such as, home-time, pay, equipment, and load assignments.
  • Manage driver off-time, PTO, available hours, and expenses.
  • Manage, coach, and develop employees to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in business management, transportation, supply chain management or related field and/or work experience equivalent
  • 3+ years in transportation, warehousing, and or supply chain environment
  • 1-2 years of supervisory and leadership experience in transportation and distribution
  • Professional and positive appearance and attitude
  • Communications skills, a must
  • Troubleshooting skills, a must
  • Systems knowledge including but not limited to Word, Excel, Sage 100, UPS Worldship, Deposco, Samsara and Warehouse management software system experience, or like applications.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, climb, and walk for 8 hours or more
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, freezer)
  • Ability to lift 75lbs
