You'll investigate and maintain property claims. Determine liability, secures information, reviews coverages, arrange appraisals, and settles claims. You will report to the Property Field Claims manager. The Claim Adjuster position supports the Claim Division goal of ensuring customer service industry leadership and partners with agency to deliver seamless claim service. An adjuster who can work on lower complexity claims. You will work in the field and handling homeowner property field claims report to the Property Claim Manager. Looking to fill 1 opening, available location: Richmond, Virginia area. A company fleet vehicle is provided with the position. Preferred candidates will have Xactimate experience, and we're to candidates with mitigation/construction project management experience.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Investigate origin and cause of claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel.
  • Identify complex issues and seeks assistance. Handle claims on a good faith basis.
  • Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.
  • Conduct on-site inspections when needed, evaluates damages, and handles claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, public adjusters.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, makes appropriate decisions and closes file as needed.
  • Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles and contract coverages and applies to all parties for assigned losses.
  • Provide all parties with claim process and status; answers questions or redirect to other areas.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions or service.
  • Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across our operating territories, or other equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims, or other equivalent experience.
  • Solid understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages, or other equivalent knowledge.
  • Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process, or other equivalent knowledge.

Licenses

  • Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving record.
  • Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel in assigned territory.
  • Catastrophe duty up to 75% as applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like. May require employees to visit areas that have a higher hazard than a typical office such as customer homes, body shops, or other locations.
  • Move in different positions to accomplish tasks in different environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, and low/high temperatures.
  • Noisy environments.
  • Hazardous conditions.
  • Poor ventilation.
  • Small and/or enclosed spaces.

This is a flexible work arrangement where you will work from home, meaning you will not report regularly to an office, and will work in the field meeting customers in the territory. On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.
