Position Summary: The Children's Aid (CA), established in 1853, is one of New York City's leading child and family service organizations is seeking a Lead Security Guard for the Bronx Campus at 1515 Southern Blvd., BX. The Lead Security Guard is responsible for the safety and security of Children's Aid personnel, clients, and guests. In addition, they will serve as a leader during emergency response. This position will function as support and report to the existing Bronx Campus Security Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Secure and maintain assigned post(s), monitor surveillance cameras, and check in visitors.
  • Observe activities, report irregularities. Maintain security logs as needed.
  • Serves on the emergency response team. Responds to all safety-related incidents, emergencies, and crisis situations through the direction of the Bronx Campus Security Manager and other site management. Assists with fire and other emergency drills.
  • Acts as a backup/fill-in in the event the Bronx Campus Security Manager is absent.
  • Back up other security posts as needed.
  • Escorts staff to safety as needed. Assists with arranging car service as needed.
  • Basic computer skills to check in clients for the building in the system.
  • Learn and follow all existing safety protocols; ensuring the safety of staff and clients in the building. Knowledge of the various Bronx Campus sites and programs "Safety Plans" and other specific sites' emergency operations processes.
  • Recognize and report signs of misconduct such as alcohol or drug use, and potential criminal activity and concerns involving children and/or families to the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Professional Development:

  • Participate in offered trainings, workshops, In-Service days, and/or All-Staff conferences.
  • Maintain certification requirements and proof of attendance in professional activities.

Health and Safety

  • Adhere to all state and city licensing requirements and CPR/AED first aid certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess 5 years of experience as a security officer in a multi-floor or building environment.
  • Security Certification: NY State Security Guard License
  • Obtain any additional Certificates of Fitness and other training certificates as needed within 180 days of hire.
  • Basic computer skills required, particularly with email and calendar.

Key Competencies:

  • Effective communication and writing skills.
  • Professional approach; resourceful, dependable, and approachable.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful but not required.
  • Flexible with work scheduling.
