The Role:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly collaborative leader to build and drive a new business at SoFi - Payment Services & Bank Sponsorship.
The role requires a combination of financial systems technical expertise, strategic product thinking, and a passion for results while managing risk and regulatory obligations.
The Principal Product Management for Commercial Payments & Bank Sponsorship will thrive in a highly entrepreneurial and collaborative environment. You will champion this new business within SoFi and to new customers while managing regulatory and business risks. You will develop the payments product strategy with your business and engineering team leaders, fulfilling your commercial payments roadmap while developing a platform that aligns work in our retail and processor segments. Your objectives are directly linked to business metrics such as revenue, operational efficiency, cost, customer acquisition, expansion and retention.
This role is inherently cross-functional. You will work closely with engineering, design, data science, marketing, operations, finance, risk, legal, compliance, AML, and executive teams to set business objectives, define product strategy, prioritize features, and execute business operations. You'll play the critical role of driving the business while bridging the technical and business worlds to drive profitable business growth while managing risk.
What you'll do:
- Leading product development: They lead cross-functional teams to build products from ideation to launch, including conducting market research, defining product requirements, developing product roadmaps, and overseeing product design and development.
- Managing product launches: Oversee product launches, including developing go-to-market strategies, coordinating with marketing, and ensuring successful product adoption.
- Be execution and outcome driven on a daily basis while balancing the long term strategic vision.
- Define product strategy that drives a market-leading solution relative to competitive trends while also driving additional lines of revenue to create growth on the sponsorship portfolio
- Create and evangelize a product vision and own a multi-year product roadmap, including prioritizing and driving backlogs for launch with your dedicated engineering teams
- Oversee an enterprise sales pipeline, along with an existing account management team to manage existing customer relationships, including growing existing relationships
- Clearly outline and understand the risk management and compliance requirements for the business line and partner with risk, legal, and compliance teams to manage the business within our risk appetite
- Work with the full cross-functional team (marketing, product, design, engineering, compliance, risk, AML, finance and operations) for your line of business & initiatives, to help execute on the strategic vision
- Providing product expertise: The principal product manager acts as the subject matter expert on their product, staying up to date on industry trends and best practices, and providing guidance to other teams.
- Defining and measuring product success: The principal product manager establishes product success metrics and regularly monitors product performance against those metrics, making adjustments as needed.
What you'll need:
- Full stack "operator": ability to both create and execute the business and product strategy; with clear objectives, but limited, ambiguous, or varied direction
- Experience in the Fintech and Bank sponsorship spaces
- Ability to operate cross-functionally, leading and influencing colleagues, and ultimately leading to timely tactical decision making to advance our objectives
- Flexible and collaborative approach to problem solving and ideation
- Superior communication skills, written and verbal. Experience presenting to C-level leadership
- Deep curiosity for how complex (financial) systems work, and an ability to internalize and analyze this information quickly
- A blend of demonstrated business, product management, financial management and execution skills
- Experience delivering quality software that solves business and user needs
- Data-driven approach and excellent analytical skills
- Passion for your full breadth of customers! You do right by them, always
- Bachelor's degree or higher with a technical discipline
Preferred:
- 7+ years in product management or general management
- Experience with banking fundamentals: ex regulatory bodies, account designations, entity considerations for onboarding.
