Sanford Federal is looking for a qualified CHAPEL CATHOLIC YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR to perform at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Anchorage, AK 99505, USA.

Job Details:
  • Job Title: CHAPEL CATHOLIC YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR
  • Location: Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Anchorage, AK 99505, USA.
  • Schedule: Part-time
Requirements & Skills:
  • A minimum of one years' experience in youth ministry.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Senior High Program :
  • Coordinator services include providing a community wide religious youth program and supporting youth ministry needs.
  • Articulate and develop promotional campaigns and activities and maintain records of supplies, materials and attendance (to include youth and volunteers).
  • Conduct weekly (school year) meetings for Senior High Youth (grades 9-12).These meetings will integrate mental, social, and Christian development.
  • Conduct monthly special events or activities to promote growth and discipleship for Senior High youth.
  • Conduct a retreat giving youth the opportunity to gather for fun, fellowship and faith sharing.
  • Provide twice a month (during school year) small group meetings focusing on studying scripture, discussing topical or relational issues.
Middle School Program :
  • Conduct twice a month (during school year) meetings for Middle School Youth (grades 6 to 8).
  • Conduct monthly special events or activities to promote group growth, nurture or discipleship for Middle School youth.
  • Conduct a retreat giving youth the opportunity to gather for fun, fellowship and faith sharing.
  • Provide support to the Religious Education program in which these teens may be increasing their knowledge of the Catholic faith.
Control and Reporting :
  • Meet with the designated NCOIC to ensure understanding and control of Chapel facilities, SOP's, OI's and procedures.
  • Provide a weekly report to the JBER Senior Catholic Chaplain or designated chaplain detailing attendance, contact work, Volunteer involvement and activities.
  • Interface with Parish/Pastoral Advisory Councils and/or leadership on a rotating basis in
  • order to report trends, attendance, needs for the program, and to coordinate congregational support for youth ministries.
Administration :
  • Provide advertising and promotional bulletin announcements, articles, flyers and materials to the Senior Catholic Chaplain's office for approval and distribution in paper and on-line media.
  • Attend 673 ABW/HC staff coordination meetings.
  • Conduct quarterly Parent Meetings in order to advise parents about the youth ministry programs, its goals and needs.
  • Provide an annual review of the program in May providing a summary of activity, trends and progress during the preceding year.
Volunteers and Support Committee :
  • Recruit volunteers to assist in conducting the program.
  • Conduct training sessions to teach and train volunteers in all aspects of Catholic youth ministry.
  • Mentor volunteers on the varied aspects of youth ministry throughout the year.
  • Supervise volunteers in carrying out their responsibilities and be available for questions and guidance. Reach out to volunteers to encourage and keep participation.
