Job Summary:

The Chief Engineer (Branch) has overall responsibility for the daily repair and preventative maintenance of industrial textile processing equipment and facility maintenance. The Chief Engineer supervises the work of others and assists them to ensure that tasks such as start-up and shut-down procedures, electrical troubleshooting, maintaining and operating boilers, welding and cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, or other systems are completed according to policies and procedures. This position reports to the Branch General Manager.

Essential Functions:

Administer tests on equipment and adjust preventative maintenance plans in order to minimize equipment failures and unscheduled equipment downtime.

Develop and train other qualified personnel in engineering department to ensure all equipment and facilities perform safely and efficiently.

Work with production, sales, and service personnel at the facility to implement operating procedures and ensure efficient facility operations.

Using specific expertise on machinery, advise the General Manager on necessary equipment supplies and parts, and equipment requirements.

Help to manage engineering department budget by reviewing regular profit & loss statements.

Maintain inventory by placing orders for parts and supplies as needed. Install, maintain, and repair all operating equipment in the laundering facility to ensure satisfactory mechanical condition.

Perform preventative maintenance on industrial processing equipment, water levels, water systems, among other system equipment.

Use specific knowledge of electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and boiler applications to understand blueprints, manufacturer manuals, and electrical schematics on facility equipment.

Investigate equipment failures as a result of mechanical problems and/or electrical issues of 3-phase 230-volt systems among other electrical service types or voltages used in the facility; replace or repair parts as needed.

Use CMMS (Spindle) to handle daily maintenance requests and improve operational processes.

Follow all safety regulations, policies, and procedures as dictated by Alsco Inc, and mandated by industry law.

Continuously improve technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; stay up-to-date on current operating equipment, repair procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related and 5 years (60 months) experience as an Engineer, Engineering professional, or Mechanical Technician.

Typical Environmental Conditions
-Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature, noise, odors, humidity, lint and dust, in general offices or on outside grounds.
