When you add that to the challenges we take on and solve together, you’ll discover that at HARMAN you can grow, make a difference and be proud of the work you do every day.About the RoleThe Senior Principal Engineer, Display SME will work to achieve the profitability and growth goals defined by the leadership strategy through a cross-functional collaborative environment with Procurement, Engineering, Customer Account Management, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.Your TeamThis position will report to the Cost Engineering lead and will be an individual contributor role with no direct or indirect reports.What You Will DoAct as Display expert for Harman Internal and customer on Manufacturing and cost elements of Display and vision system e.g: cameraConsult Harman stakeholders for selecting Display Technologies and suppliers for in-car experienceJudgment on efficiency and Technology of Manufacturing and assembly houses for Display and Display elementsLead and drive the technical definition and implementation of Display cost modeling solutions, including the identification of analytics that enable trend data to be established. Define and lead the integration of internal and external databases to build cost models that will establish Design-to-Cost targets for assemblies, and modules, designed into HARMAN Automotive productsDefine and drive the HARMAN “best practice” cost reference for the Harman Automotive products to a component level:Analyze and lead cost breakdowns from supplier quotes and understand all cost-influent factors for Benchmark purposesEstablish close technical relationships with suppliers to identify the best cost solutions, including emerging technologies that provide cost improvementsLead collaboration with Engineering & Product Sourcing teams during the new business quoting phase to establish reference cost targetsContribute and Co-Leadership with Procurement teams during negotiating events with target costing and Source BoardCreating professional reliable should-costs with internal or 3rd party toolsWhat You NeedBachelor's Degree in EngineeringMinimum 12 years work experience in the following areas:Manufacturing and assembly of electronic and Visual system assembliesCost engineering of Assembly systemsCommercial basics in Procurement, controlling, and accountingProfessional knowledge in Visual systems, Displays, and Cameras, integrated into an assembly, preferably in AutomotiveProven experience with complex assemblies, Displays, and Visual systemsProven technical leadership with demonstrated ability to lead and review the work of other cost engineersDemonstrated Strong ability to solve complex technical topics through structure solutions.  Must be able to influence others to drive alignment on proposed technical solutions.Demonstrated ability to break down Assembly processes to component levelExcellent presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topicsProven team player and driver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of a global organizationWhat is Nice to HaveMaster’s degree in engineeringWork experience in developing cost models for components, modules, assembliesWhat Makes You EligibleBe willing to travel up to 20% domestic and international travelBe willing to work in an office in Novi, MI, or Mountainview, CA (Hybrid)What We Offer The standard base salary range for this position in Mountainview, California is $162,900 - $199,100 + applicable bonus.Access to employee discounts on world-class Harman and Samsung products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, etc.)Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN UniversityCompetitive wellness benefitsTuition ReimbursementAn inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development#Hybrid#LI-MM1HARMAN is proud to be an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
