Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life. We’re looking for a Finite Element Analysis Engineer to join the Snap Lab team at Snap Inc!What you’ll do:Perform static and dynamic structural simulations using Abaqus or Ansys on consumer grade hardware.Lead and coordinate with partner teams (Product Design, Reliability, Quality, etc.) to validate the predictions of the simulated results.Work with product design engineers on evaluation, verification/validation, and design optimization.Recommend design changes/directions to meet product performance requirements.Participate in team brainstorming and new technology development.Develop new simulation tools and capabilities as needed.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Solid modeling practices including static and dynamic structural simulations, fatigue analysis, model validation techniques, and reliability.Familiar with CAD software. (NX, ProE, Solidworks)Familiarity with Abaqus user subroutine development.Expert level understanding of static and dynamic structural simulations using Ansys or Abaqus on consumer grade hardware in handheld/portable/wearable consumer electronics products.Thorough knowledge of solid mechanics and strength of materials.Failure modeling of different classes of materials.Testing familiarity using Digital Image Correlation, Universal Testing Machines, and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.Great interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across groups.Excellent process development and documentation skills.Self-motivated to identify and close issues.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics or equivalent years of experience.7+ years experience as an analyst performing mechanical and structural simulations.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s/PhD degree in relevant field.Experience in building and calibrating non-linear material models.Passion for creating innovative, high quality products.A passion for Snapchat and creativity!"Default Together" Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
