Managing Director, AI Use Case Delivery

The Senior Applications Development Leader leads the IT team in the analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications and/or systems software. This job interacts with executive leadership and others concerning matters of significance to the organization, and makes decisions that have a considerable impact on the overall success or failure of their area of accountability. This job owns short to mid-term strategy execution and operational direction in alignment with organization objectives.Key Responsibilities and DutiesOversees the execution of the development and implementation of IT applications and applications systems analysis and programming activities that enable the organization's business processes.Consults and advises leadership in determining and developing IT application strategies and effective integration of these strategies to meet organization-wide business needs.Represents the organization when selecting IT hardware and software vendors to ensure organization IT needs are met according to cost, performance, delivery, quality, and service standards.Conducts organization-wide IT quality assurance and audits to ensure compliance with defined standards.Manages multiple IT teams led by Managers and/or Directors.Directs, motivates, develops and manages the performance of the IT Applications management team and key staff.Educational RequirementsUniversity (Degree) PreferredWork Experience10+ Years RequiredPhysical RequirementsPhysical Requirements: Sedentary WorkCareer Level11PLKey Responsibilities:Strategic Execution: Provide leadership for the development and implementation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) initiatives.Product Delivery: Oversee the creation and execution of GenAI use case delivery roadmaps in collaboration with dedicated product managers, working closely with executives and business units to align our initiatives with strategic goals.Team Leadership: Manage multiple teams of highly skilled AI engineers, machine learning engineers, and project managers to ensure the reliable delivery of projects according to roadmap timelines.Talent Development: Build and maintain a talent pipeline, providing ongoing coaching and feedback to nurture the growth and development of your team members.Technology Assessment: Partner with CTL and AI COE leadership teams to determine the optimal technologies, services, toolkits, data structures, and methodologies to achieve AI objectives effectively.Metrics-Driven Approach: Define success metrics and consistently execute AI initiatives to drive measurable improvements in the company's key business metrics.Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's, Master's, or MBA in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields preferred10+ years of leadership experience with a strong focus on engineering and delivery, including 7+ years of comprehensive engineering development, research, or relevant experience.Proven track record of delivering AI and data products, from problem definition to scaling and production.Experience in leading remote and distributed teams.Proficiency in agile methods and project management in a timeline-sensitive environment.Skills Required:Deep understanding of both technical aspects and business needs.Ability to bridge the gap between business and technology.Proficiency in evaluating AI methodologies for specific business and customer problems.Effective communication and facilitation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Entrepreneurial spirit and strategic orientation.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Proficiency in cross-functional collaboration and project management.Core Competencies:Strategy: Provide leadership and execution for the development and implementation of AI powered products.Team Orientation: Balance organizational, team, and individual responsibilities, fostering a collaborative environment.Leadership: Set cross-functional objectives, influence across teams, and provide guidance and coaching to direct reports.Technical Skills: Possess strong experience in engineering delivery.Communication Skills: Build strong relationships, exhibit expert written and oral communication, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of business and financial acumen.Related SkillsAgile Methodology, Continuous Integration & Deployment, Data Analysis, Debugging, DevOps, Enterprise Application Integration, Operating Systems Management, Problem Solving, Programming, Software Development, Software Development Life Cycle, Web Application DevelopmentBase Pay Range: $167,700/yr. - $270,300/yr.Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). _____________________________________________________________________________________________________Company OverviewTIAA is the leading provider of financial services in the academic, research, medical, cultural and government fields.
