Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role SummaryYou will be a key contributor to Design for Manufacturing and Assembly of Rivian’s future products, ensuring our next generation vehicles can be manufactured efficiently, safely, and with industry leading quality. You will work closely with our product teams to optimize design, and support design validation and manufacturing validation builds. This opening will be located at our Irvine, CA facility and reports directly to a DFMA manager. ResponsibilitiesLead DFMA studies at a part, assembly, and system level to provide design feedback, including the use of static & kinematic assembly and equipment interaction simulations Drive design content reduction, assembly simplification, and build-in-qualityLead PFMEA, build sequence, and process layout development; host new product virtual builds with cross functional teamsSupport prototype and design validation builds: design and deliver proto manufacturing tooling, prepare bill of process, lead manufacturing trials, etc.Support manufacturing validations builds at Rivian’s manufacturing plants, working closely with factory integration and equipment teamsDevelop and implement processes, standards and workflows to improve team efficiencyActively mentor manufacturing engineers through technical leadership, translate vision into action, inspiring through ideation to executionActively engaged in value engineering, challenge assumptions and break the status quo QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field. 8+ years of experience in an engineering role related to DFMA, product optimization, manufacturing process or equipment development Skilled in manufacturing and industrial engineering principles (OEE, cycle time analysis, DVA, Cp/Cpk, GR&R, ergonomics, DOE, quality control, equipment selection, return on investment, error proofing, supply chain & logistics) Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using first principles, challenge assumptions and biased towards action Proven technical leader that can lead and influence cross-functional teamsExceptional verbal and written communication skills, ability to concisely summarize and escalate complex topicsExperienced working within 2D & 3D CAD environments and various engineering tools Pay DisclosureSalary Range for California Based Applicants: $168,000-$193,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26.
