If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE—and make a difference with us.Department Summary:The Cyber Assessments Department in the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center is seeking a qualified candidate for a Group Leader (GL) position with qualifications in department capabilities, security automation and/or various cyber assessments.  The GL will be a member of the department’s leadership team and will be engaged in all aspects of leading and managing a dynamic and growing work program in security automation.  The GL’s primary role is to serve as coach and mentor and help his or her group members grow, learn, and progress in their MITRE careers.  He, she, or they will be the first line supervisor to group members, creating an environment that inspires excellence and reinforcing MITRE’s culture of speed, risk-taking, adaptability, grace and respect.  The GL will work in close coordination with the Department Manager (DM) and the department leadership team to recruit and hire top cyber researchers and engineers and to expand the breadth and depth of the department’s work in security automation.  The GL must be qualified and willing to be a direct contributor within the security automation and/or assessments work program. Roles and Responsibilities:Mentor and coach employees to maximize their potential in the near- and long-termEngage in ongoing and meaningful development-focused conversationsFoster a culture of continuous learning.  Be familiar with and share opportunities for development with employees (e.g., new project assignments, training, on-the job learning, mentorship opportunities)Work in partnership with employees to find projects and work that are aligned with L521’s focus on security automation, and the employees’ skills, interests, and career development goalsPromote collaboration and integration with other organizations and programs within the division and across MITRE to expand the breadth and depth of the department’s work and provide new opportunities for staffSupport the DM in recruitment and hiring activitiesReinforce MITRE Labs’ and L520’s expectations for quality and timely review of employees’ productsEnsure employees are appropriately awarded and recognizedBasic Qualifications:Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.5+ years of technical leadership experienceUnderstand the missions, domains and challenges of MITRE customers and is fully responsible for deliverables, including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility spanAble to define projects or programs greater than him/herselfPreferred Qualifications:Proven depth and recognized stature in one or more cybersecurity technical capability areas.Demonstrated ability to build collaboration across organizational units.Experience managing a high-performing team of at least 8 people.History of successful project initiation (definition, scoping, aligning to need, costing, etc.) and project management (execution, staffing, schedule management, delivery, quality review, etc.).This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):Top SecretThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):Top SecretWork Location Type:HybridMITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
