SUMMARY The Oiler is responsible assisting the Chief and Watch Engineers with the maintenance and operation of all assigned vessel systems including hydraulics, diesel engines, mechanical and electrical systems. This position is on a non-live aboard dredging equipment. The employee must be able to work 8 to 12 hour, rotating shifts. Must be able to pass a post offer physical exam and drug screening. Must be able to provide transportation to and from the jobsite(s). Travel required and will be around 67%. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned. Assists Chief/Watch Engineers with the installation, fabrication, maintenance, repair and replacement of equipment (engines, pumps, fixtures and misc. structures), may include activities such as welding, painting, cleaning, greasing and/or observation and inspection Maintains equipment logs through monitoring of various devices and record keeping systems: computers, meters, gauges and valves and helps ensure that machines and systems are in good running condition Performs routine operation tasks with fueling and lubricating equipment such as hooking up hoses, cleaning, assisting with fuel transfers operations Performs regular checks and visual inspections of equipment (engines, motors, pumps, batteries, gauges and valves) Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct. Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. SKILLS, EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE Must possess a working knowledge of equipment maintenance. Must have ability to give and receive, understand, respond and follow verbal and written communications and instructions. Must be able to communicate, take direction well, and work cooperatively with other colleagues. One year marine experience preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid picture identification required. Valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) required. Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) preferred.
