Job Purpose: Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members. Duties: INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE provides basic, bedside care. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE records patients’ medical information and vital signs. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE takes samples for lab work, orders prescribed lab work and evaluates/interprets lab reports INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol. INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms INTENSIVE CARE REGISTERED NURSE applies Hemodynamic, Phlebotomy and IV protocols.
