Purpose

Responsible for inspecting purchased parts, subassemblies or finished products according to defined criteria to ensure quality products are delivered to customers. The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies and finished company products according to defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
  • Rework, teardown or reject subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Conduct document process and system audits using written procedures.
  • Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Review and generate scrap defective tags.
  • Problem solving.
  • Continuous improvement activities.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One -Two years of manufacturing experience with an understanding of competencies.

Competencies

  • Ability to follow established procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of AITF16949 quality standards
  • Working knowledge of measurement equipment
  • Problem Solving
  • Perform sorts, audits or rework products
  • Knowledge of product and processes
  • Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks as required
  • Ability to work effectively with people

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant. The employee must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The work requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and a variety of physical activities. Travel to customer locations as needed.
