Location:  Beloit, KS Campus 
Reports to: Vice President of Finance & Operations 
Status:  Full Time 

FLSA Status:  Exempt 

 

Purpose 

The Director of Maintenance is responsible for all aspects of NCK Tech’s physical plant operations on the Beloit campus.  This position ensures that all buildings are properly maintained and all equipment is kept in good working order. In addition, the Director of Maintenance is responsible for the overall appearance of the grounds on NCK Tech’s Beloit campus. The Director of Maintenance will also ensure that the College adheres to all Federal and State safety and EPA regulations.  General responsibilities include supervision of all maintenance operations, landscaping and maintenance personnel.  

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required 
  • Associate degree in construction or related field preferred 
  • Experience in construction, carpentry, basic electricity 
  • Experience in HVAC and plumbing systems 
  • Experience with heavy equipment machinery and equipment   
  • Experience with lawn chemicals and grasses  
  • Experience in personnel supervision with ability to delegate duties and responsibilities to staff
  • Experience in Higher Education preferred 
  • Working knowledge of basic carpentry, electricity and plumbing  
  • Good mechanical skills 
  • Ability to interact with a broad range of individuals 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks  
  • Knowledge and understanding of blueprints and schematics 
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial facilities and construction projects  
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems, landscaping, building maintenance, and custodial operations 
  • Experience with a variety of shop tools, equipment, equipment repair and maintenance 
  • Basic computer knowledge/skills 
  • Employment is dependent upon a pre-employment background screening 

 

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions 

  • Must be able to lift and handle 75 lbs, also able to push/pull up to 10-25 lbs frequently 
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods and frequently climb stairs, ladders, crouch, squat or crawl 
  • Will use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls 
  • Potential/frequent exposure to and use of chemical products 
  • Frequent use of power tools 
  • Will occasionally work in extremely hot or extremely cold conditions, and movement between hot and cold environments occasionally 
  • Possible stress due to deadlines and/or dealing with unpleasant or angry people 

 

Job Duties 

      Essential Functions 

  • Regular attendance and timeliness 
  • Supervises the following College staff:  Maintenance personnel, Custodians, Landscaping personnel, part-time summer personnel, work-study students 
  • Coordinate and supervise all campus construction projects 
  • Oversees maintenance for Campus dorms and cafeteria 
  • Develop bid specifications for major projects on the Beloit campus 
  • Develop the maintenance operating budget for Beloit with the Vice President of Finance & Operations 
  • Maintain all Electrical and Plumbing systems on campus 
  • Maintain sprinkler systems on campus 
  • Maintain all heating and air conditioning systems on campus 
  • Maintenance and repair of boilers and boiler systems on campus 
  • Complete campus inspections regularly  
  • Responsible for maintaining all building structures 
  • Snow Removal 
  • Responsible for shipping and receiving of supplies and equipment 
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities 
  • Maintain accurate material safety data sheets (MSDS)  
  • Concrete work 
  • Responsible for all dorm repairs and maintenance including east housing 
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment 
  • Delegate projects to maintenance staff 
  • Ensure quality control in the work of the maintenance department 
  • Other duties as assigned by the President, or their designee 

 

Compensation 

  • 12 Month Position
