Summary of Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Gaming Commission Executive Director, conducts confidential background checks for all gaming vendors. Investigates information provided by potential gaming licenses for accuracy. Investigator performs clerical tasks relative to licensing activity. The position must exercise excellent customer service, written and verbal communication, and computer skills. Interaction with all levels of staff and management required.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct background checks in order to find clues and useful information concerning the vendor’s business positions, character information and criminal charges from completed gaming license application on all vendors seeking vendor gaming licenses. Ensure accuracy of records and provide findings to the Executive Director of Gaming.
  • Maintain confidential electronic database on vendor gaming license files to ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and auditable to ensure legal compliance.
  • Ensure applications & investigative reports are completed to National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) & State Gaming Agency standards; as required by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act & Tribal-State Compact.
  • Probe and analyze information received to determine the effect on a vendor’s gaming license. If violations are determined, the Vendor License Investigator will notify vendor of their gaming license suspension pending an investigation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer vendor license experience in administrative area.
  • Must be 21 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow orders and directives readily.
  • Character upstanding enough to testify in court as credible witness.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment at all times, including under stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to read, understand, apply and retain knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Physical and mental alertness and the ability to concentrate.
  • Ability to multi-task and be able to pay attention to many things at the same time.

Certifications:

  • Must be able to maintain a Gaming License.
