PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:

This position is responsible for the set-up, production, and inspection of all jobs assigned by Production Manager. This role is primarily responsible for setting up and operating various CNC machines, including machining centers, as well as multiple conventional machining equipment in the tool and die/machine shop department.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The Associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the supervisor. Job duties may change as required by needs of company.

1. Make sure production area is maintained in a safe, clean and orderly manner on daily basis.

2. Read blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances; reads tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speed, and depth of cut to determine sequence of operation.

3. Set up and operate CNC machines.

4. Interpret complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions and process sheets.

5. Inspect first run and sample work piece to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications.

6. Perform a variety of milling, drilling, or boring operations to close and interrelated tolerances.

7. Install cutting tools and machine spindle or magazine.

8. Perform inspection and gaging operations to ensure maintenance of quality standards.

9. Assemble a variety of products of sub-assemblies using complex drawings or blueprints as reference sources.

10. Perform test of final product utilizing test panels and customer specified set-up; troubleshoot failures and direct rework.

11. Pack a variety of moderate to heavy parts or products in standard boxes, crates, or other containers.

12. Operate forklift, power equipment or pallet jack to move material, parts, or products.

13. Verify and close orders; complete picker.

14. Perform routine and daily cleaning and maintenance of machines.

15. Train other employees and/or temporary workers on production assignments and equipment as requested by the supervisor.

16. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus some post-secondary coursework. Prefer at lease three years of similar or related experience. Possess basic mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Possess the ability compute rate, ration and percent. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving limited concrete variable in standardized situations. Possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, bar graphs, and procedure manuals. Possess basic communications skills using common courtesy. Possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB:

This position requires constant standing, use of hands and fingers, and eye-hand coordination. This position also requires frequent walking, talking, hearing, and occasional sitting, turning, twisting, bending at waist and reaching with hands and arms. Incumbent must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Good close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to see colors and adjust focus are required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

This position works primarily indoors in a manufacturing setting with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions which may be hot, cold, humid or dry. This position constantly works around moving mechanical parts. This position is occasionally exposed to dusts, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and oil, grease or dirt. A loud noise level is typical for the work environment of this job.
