(Part-Time) Mechanic / Grounds Maintenance Worker

PAY RATE:  $14.30 per hour (up to 1,500 hours year)

Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $3.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Click here for details.  

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor or designate, this position will be responsible for the maintenance and minor repair of park/farm maintenance equipment and will perform general grounds maintenance such as mowing and line trimming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• General maintenance of park automotive, farm equipment and power operated equipment such as mowers and string trimmers.
• Operates equipment and/or vehicles to test its functioning.
• Perform oil changes, change tires, change mower blades and grease equipment.
• Mowing and general grounds maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and maintenance of an acceptable driving record.
• General Mechanic experience/skills.
• Ability to understand equipment operation instructions and shop manuals and to complete logs and records of work performed.
• Ability to use hand tools and manually controlled power tools requiring manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to stand, stoop and bend for extended periods and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to load, unload and move materials between work locations.
• Ability to traverse sandy, marshy or wooded areas with even or uneven terrain.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work varied hours depending upon park demands.
• Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors and park visitors.
• Ability to perform essential functions.
