Position Summary
Oversees operations of Breslin Center events and communicates cross functionally across campus; works closely with MSU Athletics and IPF to facilitate successful events; prepares pre and post-event materials and reports to ensure communication of event details to appropriate staff; assist Breslin Center staff and guests with any issues that may arise during events; mentors student staff by evaluating their job performance, providing professional guidance, and motivating their career development and growth; interviews, hires, trains, and supervises Breslin Center part-time and full-time team members; assists management with developing policies and procedures for Breslin Center; assists with various projects as assigned.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. If you have a permanent, on-going, and/or pervasive condition that may impede your ability to work on-site, please contact the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) atrcpd.msu.edu/get-started.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school with coursework in hospitality business or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in arena and/or event center management; one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Previous arena and/or event management experience desired; experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds.
