Overview

We are seeking a driven, and highly motivated Operations Manager I to manage our Domestic operations for our station of AIT Worldwide Logistics!

The Operations Manager I is responsible for establishing and executing company strategy related to domestic freight movements through an understanding of industry trends and best practices. Recruit, develop and motivate staff to provide a world class customer experience and meet or exceed client expectations. Ensure the station has the necessary tools in place to succeed and expand their business levels in international products lines in a sustained fashion. Work with current and prospective logistics services providers and internal AIT functions to develop the best overall strategy. Execution of those strategies includes establishing, measuring, and managing applicable metrics with service providers, vendors and internal AIT functions to ensure timely and efficient flow of product for AIT.

Responsibilities
    Develop and execute the station operations strategy of AIT.
  • Ensure processes and metrics are in place to ensure growth, service and profitability goals are accomplished.
  • Manage and communicate with AIT's carriers ensuring best value and service vs objectives
  • Ensures providers meet and adhere to the scope of SLA (Service Logistics Agreement) and agreed terms of service.
  • Exhibits strong negotiating skills and execution in Freight Forwarding Carrier Agreements.
  • Ability to track performance and develop strategic processes and proactively improve efficiencies and reduce lead time lanes.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring employees in a broad global environment.
  • Actively support key account operations requirements and ensure service execution and reliability.
  • Continue to build rapport with clients and work to develop new opportunities and create and manage key visual tools and tracking processes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.

Other Skills We Hope to See:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics preferred.
  • 7-10 years of domestic forwarding experience preferred.
  • International freight forwarding, airfreight and ocean freight preferred.
  • P&L experience strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of operations supervisory experience and managing a team required.
  • Previous experience in a diversified freight forwarding industry, preferred.
  • Procurement skills; Operational and P&L management of global products and services in a high-performance organization.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate with employees, manager, and upper management levels.
