The Parker Lord Utility Test Operator is responsible for testing and inspection of bonded product in the Bond Check department within the High Capacity Laminates (HCL) area of the Erie facility. This position supports Erie plant production requiring high level workmanship while following all safety protocols with continuous improvement involvement and a complete commitment to quality. The Utility Test Operator position falls within the scope of the FAA Drug and Alcohol program which includes a random testing program and successful completion of an FAA pre-employment drug screen. Candidates must be able to work off shift (2nd or 3rd shift) for an extended period of time; likely multiple years.

Set-up and test parts using a variety of equipment to determine conformity to specifications.

  • Set-up and test parts using a variety of equipment to determine conformity to specifications.
  • Work closely with engineering and management to determine proper inspection techniques.
  • Inspect first piece or full heat of parts after mold set-up to determine conformity to specifications and make periodic inspections to ensure they continue to meet specifications.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections for defects before, during, and/or after testing.
  • Use working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to perform manual layouts of parts to inspect using bonus tolerances.
  • Perform audit and final inspection of products for conformity to specifications.
  • Document inspection, test results and methods, including read and interpret radiographs of bonded product to determine conformity to specifications.
  • Perform minor rework (touch up, remove burrs, cement rubber, and ink stamping).
  • Daily interaction with other operators and department support staff to share best practices and support smooth shift changeover.

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

Preferred:

  • Testing and/or inspection experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing knowledge
  • Trade school experience
