Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.

• Fire Plans Examiner I ($56,056.00 Min - $87,713.60 Max)-
  • Fire Safety Inspector Certification issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards & Training.
• Fire Plans Examiner II ($58,843.20 Min - $92,102.40 Max)-
  • Fire Safety Inspector Certification issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards & Training.
  • CERTIFIED FIRE PLAN EXAMINER (CFPE) issued by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Fire Plans Examiner III ($61,796.80 Min - $96,699.20 Max)-

• Fire Safety Inspector Certification issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards & Training
• Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) issued by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
• Florida Fire Code Administrator Certification issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards & Training.

Key Responsibilities

• Researches and processes Fire Protection inspection reports for existing and planned businesses and developments.
• Reviews, processes and issues tent, bonfire, fireworks, and controlled burn permits.
• Reviews plans for residential, commercial, Planned Unit Developments and miscellaneous construction for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established building, fire codes, and/or possibly zoning codes and regulations, and public health and safety and energy conservation.
• Provides approval and/or denial of various permits and ensures the accurate recording of all permits issued.
• Contacts contractors, developers, or engineering designers for the purpose of providing recommendations for corrections/modifications necessary to bring about compliance.
