Job Summary:

Maintenance Supervisor - I/C

  • Is responsible for leading I/C maintenance repairs and project activities.
  • In accordance with NRG policies, the Maintenance Supervisor is expected to plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of power plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities with specific attention to Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Is responsible for analyzing operating deficiencies in these systems to maintain maximum availability and efficiency within budget constraints.
  • Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures, holding employees accountable for their performance.
  • Coordinate work with contractors in all assigned areas or as directed by Plant Management.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

These duties must be performed in the job; however, additional duties may be assigned):

  • Establish methods for providing maintenance and repair services; identify resource needs; review needs with maintenance manager; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all equipment and systems residing in, or related to, assigned area(s).
  • Effectively employs work management system to provide for the timely preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of all systems and equipment in assigned area(s).
  • Manage work backlog to deliver timely maintenance and maintain workforce productivity.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  • Operates within assigned budget for his/her plant subsystems and achieves the performance targets in the business plan.
  • Ensures all Company resources are utilized in a cost effective manner and estimates resource requirements.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping and cleanliness of assigned equipment and overall plant.
  • Responsible for collateral duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for communicating and leading in accordance with company vision and core values.
  • Performs field inspections of job sites and work in progress.
  • Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them.
  • Assesses risk, makes run-repair-replace recommendations and coordinates vendor selection for parts and services as required.
  • Oversees the work of outside contractors as needed.
  • Responsible for periodic duty coverage.

  • Keeps abreast of and applies new technology to prevent problems or reduce maintenance.
  • Understands and consistently applies personnel policies and procedures and the principles of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Lead / support emergency response efforts - weather events, fire, environmental spills, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment and/or power plant environment.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, gloves, ear plugs, etc.)

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Power Plant I/C Maintenance.
  • Experience leading/supervising employees in a lead or head plant role.
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle; valid Texas Driver's License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience supervising electrical or instrument craft workers.
  • Good working knowledge of fossil/steam generation equipment and instrumentation system repair requirements.
  • Master I/C Tech. experience.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A thorough knowledge of instrumentation technical skills
  • Overall knowledge of power plant operations.
  • Ability to read Blueprint's and Schematic's.
  • Strong organizational skills and capability of handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong strategic business sense and industry knowledge/experience.
  • Knowledge ofMicrosoft Office Suite,SAP

Physical Requirements (Demand and Frequency):

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
