Mechanical Engineer
This exciting role will maintain the industrial boilers and auxiliary equipment at the facility in an efficient and safe manner! They are headquartered in the Port Townsend, WA area. The company is a leading manufacturer producing Kraft pulp, paper, containerboard, medium, and market pulp. If you are a mechanical engineer who loves to manage projects, is knowledgeable about industrial boilers, and enjoys optimizing and scheduling work for maintenance/operations teams, this role could be for you!
Responsibilities:
  • Supports routine maintenance of boiler equipment, feedwater systems, steam distribution and condensate return systems, steam turbines, and other boiler-related equipment.
  • Coordinates and supports maintenance and operations of the recovery boiler, power boiler, and package boiler equipment.
  • Support the development of outage plans and coordinate boiler outage annual maintenance work, including jurisdictional inspections, routine maintenance, and inspection and repair work.
  • Supports the implementation of boiler capital projects by the mill capital projects team.
  • Monitors boiler systems to ensure they operate safely and properly; facilitates periodic boiler chemical cleaning.
  • Supports the boiler water treatment supplier in testing boiler water for corrosive deposits and treating the water with chemicals to prevent buildup.
  • Maintains and updates required records for boiler operations.
  • Addresses any problems with boiler systems and notifies maintenance when needed.
  • Contact the supervisor concerning potentially dangerous equipment or safety violations.
Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree required.
  • 5+ years of previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial boiler operation and maintenance.
  • Pulp and Paper industry experience is preferred.
Salary Range:
  • $140,000-170,000 depending on experience.
