Harney District Hospital EMS is actively seeking Paramedics to join our EMS Team. Harney District Hospital EMS is the sole 911 provider covering greater than 10,800 square miles with more than 1,100 responses annually.

In addition to 911 services Harney District Hospital EMS provides inter-facility transfers of critically ill patients who require additional or specialized care. This provides a unique opportunity for exposure to long distance critical care transports as the closest medical facility is located over 100 miles away.

Paramedics are recognized as a major component of a team, providing optimal care in a very remote environment. The Paramedic with transport a patient to an emergency department where you are on a first name basis with physicians and staff, all who are there to support you in your job and you in theirs. Frequently, Paramedics continue to assist with the more critical patients in the ED under the direction of the ED physician. Harney District Hospital is a critical access hospital and level 4 trauma center. Ambulance staffing is composed of a Paramedic, EMT or Advanced EMT and supplemented by casual EMTs and volunteer rural first responders. Staff respond from the hospital during business hours and from their homes the remaining hours. Full time Paramedics work one 48-hour shift per week, housing is provided for Paramedics who do not reside in the Burns/Hines area.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $25.22-$32.28 per hour

Pay Range: $68,195-$87,295 annually.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 48

The hourly range for this position is listed above. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Job Essentials

Responsibilities include providing 911 services and inter-facility transports as ordered by the hospital. This position will provide a healthy mixture of 911 service exposure as well as critical care transport experience.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to all age groups in accordance with standing operation procedures. All medical crew members may be subject to certain work conditions while functioning in the full capacity of their position. These work conditions include but are not limited to: Performance of essential job responsibilities in a moving ground ambulance, hospital as well as the potential to do so in an outdoor environment.

Demonstrates independent critical thinking capabilities in working autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers in the delivery of care to critically ill patients in a diverse and non-traditional settings.

Demonstrates proficiency including knowledge base, organization and efficiency of care.

Demonstrates proficiency in use of specialized equipment in the transport environment.

Ensures that patient care environment, equipment and supplies are available, clean and functioning appropriately. Maintains a safe environment for self, team members, and patients.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Current Oregon Paramedic Licensure (or eligible: Nationally Registered and hold an Associate Degree, or 3 years' experience in a busy 911 system.
  • Current AHA ACLS Provider Certification
  • Current AHA CPR Provider Certification
  • Successfully completed EVOC program
  • Able to obtain AHA PALS Provider Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Able to obtain ICS 100, 200 and 700 within 90 days of hire
  • Able to obtain PHTLS Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Able to obtain NRP Certification within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ventilator experience
  • Infusion pump experience
  • 12-Lead experience
  • Critical Care transport experience
