Job Description

We are looking for a energetic, administratively strong, computer competent part-time LPN for our Preschool Program. Must be licensed by the AR State Licensing Board as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This person must love children, must be dependable, must be a self-starter, must have the ability to work independently, while being a team player. This position requires experience with G-tube feeds, and other medically fragile children. Preferred experience working with Developmentally Disabled in a childcare setting, Medicaid DMS 640, Dayhab referrals and Web IZ. EOE/M/F

Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm

Job Summary: Provides health care services to children and assists teachers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participates in medical examinations and reviews findings to evaluate health status of consumers Maintains a productive and professional work environment with the classroom staff. On a need to know basis, informs classroom staff of any relevant medical information that concerns children assigned to their classroom.
  • Cooperates with preschool personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of preschool children.
  • Prepare medical chart on newly admitted consumers to include nutritional assessment, health questionnaire, physicals, immunization records, prescriptions and any other medical needs required for children. Also assists in updating medical documentation including physicals, immunizations, Medicaid referrals, therapy referrals, etc.
  • Coordinates and conduct staff training in medical matters such as CPR and First Aid.
  • Perform CPR and 1st aid when needed and participates in emergency drills.
  • Provides list of children with food allergies to classroom and food services staffs.
  • Documents services performed for billing purposes.
  • Administers medications and document MAR.
  • Periodic assessment of medical equipment utilized by children to ensure that equipment in in working order.
  • Assess health issues concerning children and staff, assess on site accidents, incidents, injuries and behaviors then documents and distributes, as appropriate.
  • Communicates all medical needs or concerns to parent/guardian and disseminates information to supervisor(s) as appropriate.

Education and/or Experience: Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of Arkansas; experience working in a childcare setting and /or working with children with Developmental Disabilities preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: LPN License, CPR/First Aid, TB Skin Test (strongly recommended), Arkansas Driver's License and AR Auto Liability Insurance as necessary

Safety Sensitive Position: This is a safety sensitive position as it involves operating a motor vehicle as part of the job duties and a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death to the consumers being transported. See Ark. Const. Amend. 98 2(25). All positions classified as safety must refrain from reporting to work or being subject to duty while their ability to perform job duties is impaired due to the use of alcohol or other drugs. All positions classified as safety sensitive are prohibited from testing positive for metabolites of substances that are listed in the schedules of the Federal Controlled Substances Act and the Arkansas Uniform Controlled Substances Act, regardless of whether the employee possesses a medical marijuana registry identification card. See id. at 3(f)(3)(B)(iii). This policy applies during all work hours, whenever conducting business for AEDD.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this position the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
