Quality Engineer

Valley City, ND - Full Time

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at the John Deere facility in Valley City, ND. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will provide quality planning, control, and improvement support for product development teams, manufacturing engineering, supply management, and manufacturing and/or distribution organizations to assure John Deere product quality meets the customers' expectations. This includes the application of quality tools within the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP) and Customer Support Process (CSP). Also supports application of quality tools with key suppliers as an integral element of quality planning. QE to monitor the factory for quality issues on the production line, root cause and interacting with the operations team for resolution.

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.

Duties:

  • Participate on PDP (Product Delivery Process) team as the Quality representative, ensuring quality activities and plans are formulated and followed.
  • Engage in applying/leading Quality tools in Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams.
  • Encourage early interaction of both customer and supplier input to team activities.
  • Participate in Design Process and Assembly Review (DPARs), print review, and design review of new products.
  • Monitor and facilitate quality activities for part approval, verify manufacturing processes (control plans, assembly instructions) and confirm process capability.
  • Use quality tools and practices to establish approval criteria to ensure the identification of quality failure concerns for both internal and external manufactured parts and assemblies.
  • An example is Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Investigate unit quality related issues and concerns related to product and processes, gather, and analyze data, resolves/facilitates resolution and implements corrective action.
  • Engage in applying/leading Quality tools on Customer Support Process (CSP), Continuous Improvement (CI), and/or Value Improvement (VI) teams.
  • Execute John Deere Quality Control Plan where implemented.
  • Investigate product quality problems, determines root cause for quality problems, gathers and analyzes data and implements corrective action to reduce or eliminate non-value waste resulting from non-conformances, scrap or reclaim.
  • Assist in identifying, communicating, and resolving supplier quality problems.
  • Engage in supplier quality plan formulation as necessary.
  • Conduct audits of new and existing suppliers to determine manufacturing capability and adherence to accepted quality practices.
  • Drive prevention actions.
  • Facilitate and write quality procedures for the purpose of maintaining/updating the factory quality system and supports quality system audits, reviews result with audit team, and participates in management review meetings.
  • Provide training and/or supervision to co-workers, inspectors, technicians and auditors on quality procedures and tools to monitor critical processes to assure consistent control and/or to implement cost-saving ideas to improve our products to meet customer expectations.

Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on factory experience inspecting parts, reading prints, and troubleshooting quality related issues.
  • First Shift | Monday -Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm. Friday and Saturday are OT as needed.
  • 100% onsite from day one
  • Metatarsals required for the first day.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems analytically.
  • Ability to solve problems by determining root cause and driving corrective action.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data.
  • Ability to interact with multiple engineering areas to resolve problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize a large number of tasks.
  • 8D / Six Sigma

Preferred:

  • Preferred B.S. Engineering degree in Mechanical, or Industrial.
  • Background in quality.
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma Certificates
