Position Overview: As a Horticulturist at The Flower Tower, you'll be responsible for overseeing the care, cultivation, and maintenance of our diverse collection of plants. From selecting and sourcing plant varieties to designing garden layouts and providing expert advice, you'll play a key role in creating an environment where plants thrive and flourish.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Select and procure plant varieties for our botanical collection, considering factors such as climate suitability, aesthetic appeal, and customer demand.
  2. Develop and implement cultivation plans, including planting schedules, soil preparation, irrigation systems, and pest and disease management protocols.
  3. Monitor plant health and growth, conducting regular inspections and diagnostic assessments to identify any issues and implement appropriate solutions.
  4. Propagate plants through seeding, cutting, grafting, or division techniques, ensuring genetic diversity and maintaining healthy plant populations.
  5. Design and maintain garden layouts, including bed preparation, plant placement, and landscape design, to create visually appealing and sustainable outdoor spaces.
  6. Provide expert advice and guidance to customers and staff on plant selection, care techniques, and garden design principles.
  7. Stay informed about the latest horticultural trends, research findings, and sustainable gardening practices, and incorporate them into our operations.

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in horticulture, botany, plant science, or a related field, with a strong academic background in plant biology, ecology, and cultivation techniques.
  2. Previous experience working in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field, with a solid understanding of plant care principles and gardening practices.
  3. Knowledge of plant taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, and ecological relationships, with an ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical applications.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose plant health issues and implement effective solutions.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to convey complex horticultural concepts to diverse audiences.
  6. Creativity and an eye for design, with a passion for creating beautiful and sustainable outdoor spaces.
  7. Enthusiasm for plants and a commitment to promoting environmental conservation and sustainable gardening practices.
