Salary $50,000 + Based on Experience
This is a 3rd Shift Position

The PLC Technician will design, program, diagnose and recommend electrical systems for the plant, including systems design, installation and modification.

What You'll Do:
  • Exhibit superior safety practices every day evidenced by outstanding housekeeping at all times.
  • Extend treatment to all other employees of the Company as individuals with the courtesy and dignity shown to customers.
  • Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail.
  • Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures.
  • Assist in the design and installation of electrical systems on machines and equipment with programmable logic controllers (PLC’s).
  • Assist in the diagnosis and design of electrical equipment for installation.
  • Install and maintain plant electrical systems for power, lighting, controls and facilities in accordance with local codes and safety requirements.
  • Inspect, isolate, and troubleshoot electrical or PLC programming problems or operating difficulties.
  • Assist plant engineering and contractors with electrical systems on new installations or modifications.
  • Determine need for, and effect repairs and adjustments.
  • Work from manufacturing drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
  • Train and assist lower rated maintenance electricians and mechanics.
  • Perform analysis of electrical systems in order to prevent breakdown or electrical stoppage.
  • Perform emergency repairs, when necessary, to prevent excessive production delays.
  • Observe extreme caution and good safety practices while servicing plant electrical systems.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair assignments, as required.
  • Maintain working knowledge of PLC system design, troubleshooting, programming, logic commands, software and hardware from a variety of PLC manufacturers.
  • Apply understanding of basic hydraulics, pneumatics, AC, DC and 3 Phase circuits, motor generator principles, motor control theory, motor drive and coupling alignment, electrical code, electrical control devices, high voltage maintenance, electrical test equipment, panel building and wiring and basic PLC logic
  • Personal attendance record should remain in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Secure proper tools for each task.
  • Communicate suggestions and recommend solutions to problems to provide for an efficient operation.
  • Approach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member.
  • Perform other assignments as may be requested.
  • Research solutions to complex electronic problems.
  • Obtain, understand, and utilize operational manuals for various equipment and components.
  • Learn software when necessary for new installations.
  • Train electricians to use various PLC troubleshooting techniques.
  • Archive and inform necessary parties of troubleshooting methods and findings.

What We Need from You:
  • Requires higher math for application of engineering principles.
  • Over three years, up to five years of experience.
  • Considerable judgment to plan, layout and perform difficult work.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell and Microsoft suite software.
  • Moderate computer skills in networking and file manipulation.
