Job Summary:


Sanford Federal, Inc. is looking to hire a Biologist or Ecologist to provide services in support of the Biology Program at The Vieques National Wildlife Refuge.


Qualification:


  • Must have enough credits or have successfully completed of at least a bachelor's degree in biology, ecology or other related conservation area that includes a natural resources curriculum which has a core in wildlife, botany, or protected area management coursework.
  • Must have at least one full year of undergraduate level education in a field directly related to fish and wildlife biology such as biology, botany, entomology or zoology.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience working on ecological/biological investigations to determine the distribution and abundance of fish and wildlife and their habitats; collecting, analyzing, and assessing biological and ecological data; compiling statistics for reports; preparing reports of investigations and findings including recommendations; assisting in implementing laws, regulations, and policies involving natural resource issues.
  • Must have the ability to conduct wildlife identification, surveying, and monitoring with appropriate techniques and procedures.
  • Must be able to interpret data and provide advice to support management and conservation decisions based on the best available data and scientific information.
  • Must be Familiar with Vieques island wildlife species.
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Must have a valid driver's license.



Duties:


  • Collect, analyze, and assess biological and ecological data. Compiling statistics for reports.
  • Interpret data and provide advice to support management and conservation decisions based on the best available data and scientific information. Use this information to assist the Service when presenting this information to other agencies or stakeholders, either in oral presentation or through written reports.
  • Provide and support any biological opinions for the impact of the CERCLA clean-up and of fires on the ecology of the impacted habitats.
  • Prepare written reports of investigations and findings including recommendations.
