Description

The Churchill Downs Race Track Ticket Operations Department has openings for seasonal Box Office and Program Attendants. This position reports to the Box Office Manager and is responsible for assisting customers with gate admissions, selling, fulfillment, and distribution of venue tickets, programs, and tip sheets. The Attendant may be stationed in a Box Office or program selling location, as well as the outdoor entry gates; or may be available to deliver programs to various onsite locations as a program runner.

Positions are available for:

  • Kentucky Oaks & Derby: May 3rd & May 4th
  • Derby Week: April 27- June-30th
  • 2024 Race Season: May/June, July, September, and November.

Job Duties include:

  • Serve as a box office sales team member, assisting all walk up sales at the gates and box office window.
  • Serve as an admissions gate team member by assisting all patrons to enter the facility gates and reviewing the status of scanned tickets as necessary.
  • Serve as a program sales team member, assisting all walk up sales at selling booths.
  • Assist in the fulfillment of ticket requests and will call by verifying the accuracy of ticket orders.
  • Accepts payments and makes change accurately.
  • Keeps daily balance sheet of cash received and tickets sold; submits cash to Box Office Manager for audit.
  • Complete frequent inventory checks and manage a daily balance sheet of cash received and programs sold.
  • Work to ensure customer's needs are fulfilled and ensure the customer receives outstanding service while assisting with general venue and event information.
  • Assist and educate customers with reading and comprehending programs and tip sheets.
  • This position may require the ability to bend, stretch, stand, and walk for extending periods of time throughout the work day, in both indoor and outside weather conditions.
  • Program runners and admission gate team members will need the ability to lift a minimum of twenty (20) pounds with the possibility of working in outside weather conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ticketmaster Archtics system knowledge is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment generating effective solutions quickly and/or raising issues to management as necessary.
  • Team player with an exceptional customer service attitude.
  • Strong PC and mathematic skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some holidays, weekends, evenings, and race days.
  • This position requires completion of a background check.
  • Ability to obtain KHRC Racing License required. Cost is $10 for only week of Kentucky Derby & Kentucky Oaks; cost is $25 to work full racing meet.
