The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System is actively recruiting a Board-Certified Staff Gastroenterologist to help care for our American Heroes, the Veterans. The selected Gastroenterologist Physician Candidate responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, completing patient history and physical examinations, diagnosis, and therapeutic ability, effectiveness in emergencies, patient management, consultation, specialty skills and record keeping. The gastroenterologist is expected to promote delivery of quality patient care based on current standards in the practice of gastroenterology in the hospital and is skilled at performing endoscopy. Skills and knowledge are necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including the ability to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed to promote improvement. Additional duties and responsibilities include performing inpatient consultations and endoscopy procedures. The selected candidate will be considered for a faculty appointment at the University of Oklahoma and be involved with the education & teaching of a Gastroenterology fellow in our fellowship program plus medical residents, students, and other providers. Research responsibilities (which include quality improvement projects) include the ability to identify and define significant research and development problems, to plan and execute a precise research program and to generate effective reports and results worthy of publication that are not required but would be of significant value to the section. Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30, plus on call duties as needed. As inpatients are on the hospitalist service, call duties are relatively light. Calls are shared among OU and VA faculty (6-9weeks/Year). May be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 full-time Physician.

  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology, but Board Eligibility may also be considered.
