Salary:

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Essential –


  • Effectively teach welding technology courses at the off-campus program located at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF). Such courses may include welding safety; blueprint reading; SMAW, GMAW and GTAW processes; fabrication and other related courses as Teaching assignments may also include evening courses or alternative delivery systems such as online, hybrid or video conferencing.
  • Teach at other Hutchinson Community College locations as assigned.
  • Teach theoretical concepts as well as their application in a hands-on laboratory environment.
  • Perform lab exercises and assignments to meet applicable welding codes and standards.
  • Design, develop and maintain course curriculum, materials, assessments and evaluations according to HutchCC and state standards, and in response to industry needs and trends.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Build instructional training aids and prepare instructional materials.
  • Be aware of, and be able to maintain applicable shop and lab safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain records and files as requested and report student grades and attendance records per college policy and KDOC requirements.
  • Actively participate in program advisory committees as assigned.
  • Work as a team member with the Department of Agriculture, Business, Computers and Technology department.
  • Attend required college meetings and professional learning
  • Work effectively as a professional within a team setting and professionally represent HutchCC at customer locations.
  • Pursue professional development through pertinent classes, workshops, or seminars.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.


  • Comply with Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) and Hutchinson Correctional Facility policies, procedures, and practices.


Secondary –


  • Participate in department meetings, activities and campus committees.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Business and Industry Institute, department chairpersons and/or the Vice President of Academic


QUALIFICATIONS: 


  • Post-secondary degree in welding technology preferred.
  • Welding work experience in a manufacturing-related industry preferred.
  • Ability to secure an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential within the first two semesters of teaching or a reasonable time period as agreed upon by the program coordinator, the department chairperson, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Ability to pass a security background check by the Kansas Department of Corrections.
  • Possession of a valid Kansas driver’s license.
  • Be an effective team member with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate shop and industrial equipment including forklift, press brake, shear, plate roll, welders etc.
  • Physical requirements may include, but not limited to, having the ability to lift, stand, bend, stoop, reach, climb, push, pull and carry. Lifting requirement may vary considerably, but will typically be in the 75-100 pound Heavy/indoor work environment; excellent verbal, written, and listen communication and organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations.

SALARY and STATUS:


The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the HutchCC administration. This administrative staff position is a 261-day, annual contract, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
