What-Not-Shop
TITLE: CASHIER/CUSTOMER SERVICE/SORTER
REPORTS TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To act as a partner in the community membership of Hope Association by supporting the Mission and Vison through the recycling and resale of community donations.
Essential Functions/Qualifications:
Lifting – up to 40lbs Valid Clean Maine Drivers License
Driving within and outside the community Vehicle Insurance
High moral character Reliable Transportation
Positive Approaches Clean Criminal Record Check
High School Diploma or Equivalent Functional reading and writing skills.
Positive role model Excellent Communication Skills
Physical Requirements:
Sitting 1-4 hours
Walking/Standing 3-8 hours
Lifting/Carrying/Transfers up to 40lbs MULTIPLE times per day
(Mechanical lifting devices and other approved aids should be used except during an emergency.)

STANDARDS:
- This position requires hourly physical movement to sort through an abundance of donated items.
- The ability to recognize unique as well as re-sellable items and price based on numerous factors is important to the continued financial stability of the program.
- Provide positive interactions within the agency and within the community that reflects the agency’s philosophy and mission statement.
- Respect the confidentiality of others at all times.
- Participate as a team player and maintain a positive manner. Be courteous to all customers.and co-workers taking ideas into consideration.
- Report any situations which might be interpreted as abuse, neglect, mistreatment or
- exploitation to your supervisor when you become aware of the situation, remembering. We are all mandated reporters.
- Ability to deal calmly with chaos.
- Utilize proper chain of command. Seek assistance from your supervisor with work related problems. Ask for additional training when needed.
- Practice effective time management and work ethics. Maintain a good attendance record, including punctuality and leave request procedures.
- Be well organized, utilizing planning strategies and follow through.
- Attend all required agency training sessions as well as scheduled staff meetings.
- Working safely and maintaining a safe work environment is a top priority at Hope Association. Report all unsafe working conditions in a timely manner.
- Respond positively to the changing needs of the program.
- Ensure that all merchandise is rotated on a regular basis. Inventory management. Assess sales and determine needs.
- Asist with marketing.
- Be responsible for opening and closing the What Not Shop as needed following protocols.
- Follow Hope Association’s Dress Code.
- Establish and maintain clear relationships related to staff and volunteers.
- Assume all job responsibilities presented to you by the program director or supervisor.
- Readily accept and perform other job duties as assigned.
