Job Title: Vice President of Sales
Reports to: CEO
FLSA Status (Exempt or non-Exempt): Non-exempt, Salary (Pay based on experience)
Computer Skills: ERP Software (Syteline & NetSuite) & Microsoft Office (minimum), Tableau and general computer skills
Job Summary:
The Vice President of Sales is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve organizational goals. This individual will lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, develop strong customer relationships, and collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
- Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new opportunities for revenue growth.
- Set ambitious but realistic sales targets and create plans to achieve and exceed them.
- Analyze customer data to identify market trends and opportunities.
- Maintain a real-time pulse on the market, product trends, and customer behaviors.
- Utilize market data to inform strategic decision-making and assess the performance of different channels for growth.
Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, train, and manage a dynamic sales team.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to the sales team to foster a high-performance culture.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and implement professional development plans.
- Assign territories, set performance expectations, and ensure the team is aligned with the company's vision and objectives.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Address customer concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Sales Operation
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve top-line revenue growth and profit.
- Ensure the complete sales and marketing cycle is optimized, from lead generation through account management.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the sales organization.
- Implement and optimize sales processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Utilize data and analytics to monitor and report on sales performance.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other departments, such as marketing, finance, and product development, to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts.
- Communicate regularly with executive leadership to provide updates on sales performance and strategy.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve sales targets.
- Monitor and control expenses to ensure financial objectives are met.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role, preferably as a Director of Sales or in a similar capacity.
- A sales professional with a proven track record of managing accounts and account teams and growing sales while dealing with a varied customer base across diverse channels.
- Experience working with independent rep firms, service agencies, and/or regional distributors, both domestically and internationally.
- Leadership and management of cross-functional team(s)
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing successful sales strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and data-driven mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at minimum.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Understanding of industry trends and market dynamics.
- Ability to spend up to 40-60% of time traveling to customers, events, and trade shows over weekends.
