The 2nd Shift Production manager is responsible for the tactical as well as strategic management of all facets of manufacturing to meet the needs of our biotechnology customers. The primary objective is to meet customer delivery expectations while managing labor costs and quality. This job entails a combination of production floor work and office work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the production scheduling to maximize productivity and minimize production cost while meeting the level of quality required by customers and regulatory agencies. Schedule, supervise and delegate work assignments for production personnel.
• Analyzing and planning work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, manufacturing methods, and cost analysis systems to promote process and value stream improvements.
• Works with business leadership to identify and define the scope of lean improvement opportunities.
• Coaches, trains and develops lean improvement team members and other personnel.
• Train and develop manufacturing staff of 10-20 individuals.
• Communicate and assist R&D as needed.
• Oversee that all process are completed according to manufacturing directions and proper documentation is completed accurately and concisely by you and your staff.
• Responsible for the adherence of internal procedures, policies and documentation requirements.
• Develop and execute projects, plans and programs relating to production functions. Assist other departments/lines as needed.
• Conduct the orientation and training of production employees on quality policies, procedures and documentation; communicate high standards of quality and cleanliness, and maintain good employee morale to facilitate production efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures to foster a safe work environment.
• Perform department safety inspections and investigate accidents with EHS department; take corrective action as needed.
• Ensure proper maintenance is performed and recommend replacement or modification of existing equipment as needed
• Maintain effective communication with quality control, engineering, office staff, and human resources to ensure production objectives and results are incorporated into divisional strategies.
• Coach supervisors in the management of their department personnel including training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Demonstrate professional leadership and commitment in administrating the company’s values.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree
• This position is 2nd shift Monday through Thursday.
• Industrial Technology/Engineering is preferred but not required. Will also consider applicants with an management, agriculture, alternative engineering, or science background
• Strong communication skills and good management ability are a necessity. The ability to relate well and maintain constructive working relationships with others across all levels of the organization is essential.
• Background in Lean processes is preferred but not required.
• A strong knowledge of packaging operational flows
• Ability to utilize MRP system
• Strong desire to identify operational improvement opportunities and lead this effort as necessary
• Must be able to relocate to Osage, IA Community school district
