The Plant Director position is based in Lancaster Pennsylvania in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, with an operating budget of 300M, a production volume of 250M pounds per year, and is responsible for overseeing the daily management of the plant and the employees. Duties include hiring and training the staff, reviewing production goals and records, safety standards, and coordinating with corporate management to enforce changes to the plant budgets, and maximize production activities.

 

Working Relationships:

 

Reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing, with ten direct reports and four hundred hourly union employees.

 

Collaborates with corporate support functions, suppliers, markets, and legislative bodies.

 

 

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

 

  • Engage and inspire people in the vision and goals of the site and organization. Creates a culture of engagement, communication, and collaboration.
  • Promote a make it better culture of continuous improvement using the WK Kellogg standardized Integrated Work System.
  • Drive accountability within teams and individuals to own their skills and capabilities improvement plans.
  • Set and communicate performance expectations and goals, and how these contribute to the strategy. Monitor, evaluate, and hold employees accountable for performance goals and expectations. Assess the talent of the team to ensure bench strength.
  • Adhere to ethical, organizational, professional and community standards.
  • Maintain records and reports necessary to comply with company, government, and accrediting agency standards, regulations, and codes (e.g., record retention guidelines).
  • Identify and clarify internal/external customer needs and expectations, taking actions to ensure that WK Kellogg and customer goals are aligned and met.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and statistics, including operating and administrative budgets, to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Define key departmental operating and financial performance measures and goals and hold the department accountable for achieving these goals.
  • Ensure that assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses for responsibility area are accurately accounted for and reported.
  • Plan or assist in planning annual or project-specific budgets, ensuring that budgets and financial performance are in accordance with business strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement effective cost containment/reduction strategies that result in demonstrated savings and make recommendations for improved performance based on financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Build teams of diverse individuals who work interdependently to achieve business objectives, promoting collaboration, coordination, and teamwork.
  • Ensure team members have sufficient resources to perform their jobs and to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Promote ownership at every level for adherence to GMP and food safety standards.
  • Take necessary actions to ensure that all company quality and food safety standards are met, including developing and implementing quality improvement/corrective action plans.
  • Monitor the execution of business plans to ensure successful completion of action plans.
  • Consider strategic decisions with immediate and long-term implications, benefits and costs, and risks associated with decision alternatives.
  • Communicate major new company directives to Health & Safety, Promote and lead the site Central Safety Committee.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections throughout the site and follow-up as appropriate.
  • Travel is required <10% of the time.

 

Required Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate scientific, engineering or production environment.
  • Minimum four years’ experience in a senior leadership position in a manufacturing site.
  • Proven use and application of advanced manufacturing principles, theories, and concepts in area of specialty.
  • Substantial background in manufacturing across different roles and disciplines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels.
  • Strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups and high-level constituents.

 

Preferred Experience:

 

  • Advanced Degree in appropriate scientific, engineering or production environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior leadership position in a manufacturing site.
  • Demonstrated experience with High Performance Work Systems (IWS, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)
