Reports to: Senior Director, Procurement

Background Required: 5+ years of experience in Procurement and Procurement Strategy related to retail aftermarket automotive parts and tire specifications, preferably in a large national retail organization experiencing rapid growth

Job Overview: The Procurement Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient procurement of high-quality automotive products, managing vendor relationships, negotiating vendor programs and optimizing inventory levels in our warehouses and stores. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of the automotive industry, and expertise in replenishment planning . Responsibilities include:

Market Research and Analysis
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, industry benchmarks, and competitive pricing for automotive tires and parts
  • Analyze market conditions and make strategic recommendations to optimize purchasing decisions and recommend new suppliers as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand specific requirements for automotive products and support category management strategies

Vendor Management and Negotiation
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure a reliable and diverse source of automotive tires and parts
  • Negotiate vendor contracts with annual spend of $30M+
  • Secure favorable pricing, terms, discounts, rebates and payment schedules with suppliers to optimize cost-effectiveness and improve profit margins
  • Evaluate on-going supplier performance to ensure timely and cost-effective replenishment

Supervision of Buyers
  • Responsible for directing and managing buyer(s) within the procurement team as assigned

Demand Forecasting and Analysis
  • Collaborate with various departments to analyze historical data, sales trends, and market information to accurately forecast product demand
  • Develop and implement replenishment strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels in the warehouse and stores

Order Placement and Tracking
  • Generate purchase orders based on demand forecasts and inventory levels, ensuring timely and accurate placement of orders to maintain targeted service levels
  • Monitor and track order status, collaborating with suppliers to resolve any issues related to delivery timelines or product availability

Inventory Optimization
  • Work closely with the warehouse and inventory management teams to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing carrying costs and excess inventory
  • Implement strategies to avoid stockouts and overstock situations, optimizing inventory turnover

Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Utilize data analytics tools to evaluate and analyze inventory performance, vendor performance, and other key metrics
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards as needed to communicate inventory levels, stock movement, cost savings and vendor performance metrics to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Procurement
  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement related to automotive parts and tire specifications
  • In-depth knowledge of market dynamics within retail tire, retail automotive service and/or automotive aftermarket
  • Experience in a large national retail organization experiencing rapid growth
  • Experience as a Buyer in the automotive segment and warehouse replenishment roles highly desired
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience planning retail organizational strategy
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
