POSITION OVERVIEW:

MP Materials owns and operates Mountain Pass, the only Rare Earth mining and processing site in North America. Rare Earths power the modern economy. They are essential components in a wide range of industrial, clean energy and information technology applications.

The Analytical Lab Technician Trainee will have the responsibility to support laboratory operations. This person will work on routine samples under the guidance of the lab supervisor as well as other analysts and technicians. Tasks include sample preparation and analyses, data reporting, lab inspections, cleaning, and organization. The laboratory technician trainee may perform more advanced analyses under the guidance of more senior analysts.


Schedule

The Analytical Lab Technician Trainee schedule after training will be Sunday thru Wednesday or Wednesday thru Saturday 10 hours 5:00 am to 3:30 pm or 5:00 pm to 3:30 am. During training Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work under the guidance of the lab supervisor and lab chemists to track incoming samples and prepare them for analysis.
  • Prepare samples at a high volume, with repetitive activities.
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment and buildings.
  • Receive and track samples from various plant operations.
  • Prepare samples for titration and perform titrations.
  • Maintain the traceability of samples delivered to the laboratory.
  • Provide General lab support including cleaning and organization.
  • Be flexible to work varying shifts and schedules.

CANDIDTATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good employment history.
  • Proven ability to learn in a professional work environment.
  • Familiarity with different analytical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with standard computer software.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • Previous college classes in science a plus
  • Previous laboratory experience or college-level laboratory classes in physical sciences is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required to drive company vehicles on property.

The expected pay rate is $27.50 an hour. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or location.

Employees must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
