Merchandiser Supervisor

The Merchandiser Supervisor is responsible for executing operational, human resources, and administrative jobs tasks with unwavering excellence, and holding a team of merchandisers accountable, via leadership, training, and communication tactics, for operational excellence.

Duties and responsibilities

Job Roles:

• Meets hours/allocations within guidelines.

• Hires and trains appropriate number of Merchandisers needed to meet hours and operational goals.

• Derives high levels of productivity from merchandising staff.

• Complies with safety standards while working in the stores, and demands the same of other Alsum employees.

• Prepares stores for tours, meetings, and other events required.

• Provides excellent customer service to stores and store personnel by exhibiting impeccable professionalism, integrity, and decorum.

• Creates an atmosphere of cooperation with stores and store personnel that foster compliance with merchandising standards, planogram, and merchandising programs.

• Develops and maintains an intimate understanding of client planograms, merchandising programs, and Alsum standards.

• Maintains Human Resources paperwork as required and in a timely manner.

• Attends meetings as requested.

• Conducts disciplinary actions as needed, including terminations.

• Rotate product as required by the manufacturer for perishable merchandise and for merchandise requiring freshness checks.

• Identifies and mentors Merchandisers with the potential to assume the Supervisor position.

• Reports to the Retail Sales Manager with appropriate frequency, all valid and pertinent information.

Qualifications

- 2-4 years of relevant experience with at least one year of supervisory experience. Strong, proven leadership and communication skills are the foundation for success in this position.

- Ability to get results in the marketing of fresh produce commodities in a competitive environment.

- Retail management experience required multi-unit management experience preferred.

- Team player that contributes actively toward company goals.

- Execution of operational tasks at retail should be a passion.

- Strong communications skills and analytical ability.

- Computer experience.

- Positive attitude.

- Self-starter and motivated.

- Understanding of developing relationships with customers.

- Working with part-time, offsite workforce preferred.

- Client and customer interface.

- Recruiting, interviewing, and selecting at the part-time employee level will be required.

Minimum Level of Education/Training Required:

- Must have a valid driver’s license (for at least 2 years)

- Ability to drive during the day and night is required (up to 3-4 hours depending on home-office location.)

- Potential for overnight travel.

- Associates Degree in Business, or related field, desirable but not required.

- Certain projects may require repetitive bending and lifting. Stretching beforehand can help prevent soreness and injuries.

- The ability to use a manual pallet jack loaded with bin quantity produce weighing approximately 500lbs.
