Summary

A Daycare Floater is a versatile and adaptable team member in a daycare or early childhood education setting. They provide support and assistance across various age groups and classrooms as needed. Floaters play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the daycare center and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children.

Duties

Flexible Classroom Assistance:
  • Assist lead teachers and teacher assistants in various classrooms and age groups as assigned.
  • Step in during staff absences or busy periods to ensure proper child-to-adult ratios are maintained.
Supervision and Care:
  • Provide attentive and loving care to children, including feeding, diapering, and assisting with restroom breaks.
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, ensuring the well-being of all children.
Behavior Management:
  • Reinforce classroom rules and expectations for behavior.
  • Assist with conflict resolution and the promotion of positive social interactions among children.
Child Development:
  • Observe and record children's progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones.
  • Communicate with lead teachers, teacher assistants, and parents about children's development and needs.
Parent Communication:
  • Establish positive relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Share daily updates on children's activities, behavior, and any concerns or milestones.
Assist with Lesson Planning:
  • Collaborate with lead teachers and teacher assistants to plan and prepare educational materials and activities.
  • Help set up and organize classrooms for daily activities.
Health and Safety:
  • Follow health and safety protocols, including sanitation, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor the well-being of children and report any concerns to lead teachers or supervisors.
Supervise Outdoor Activities:
  • Assist with outdoor playtime, ensuring children's safety and participation in physical activities.
  • Promote outdoor learning and exploration.
Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance childcare skills.
  • Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.


Requirements

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience working with children in a childcare or early childhood education setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability, patience, and the ability to work effectively in various age groups and classrooms
Additional Requirements:
  • Background check and fingerprinting
  • Immunization records and health screenings
  • Willingness to adapt to the needs and routines of the childcare center.
