SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Controller this person is responsible for cash handling and balancing, reconciliations, weekly and month end reporting, and auditing for compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following.

  • Supports monthly close process.
  • Generates labor cost and shipments reports for management review.
  • Manages standard cost system.
  • Conducts product line analysis for management review.
  • Coordinating approval process of all account’s payable invoices via department heads.
  • Reviewing all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure and classification. Reporting any variances to Controller.
  • Working closely with AR/payroll clerk to assure the accuracy of payroll, billing and all corresponding journal entries.
  • Reviewing periodically during the month the general ledger for input accuracy and verifying that accounts have been reviewed for content.
  • Running required month-end reports and files according to document retention guidelines.
  • Preparing Use Tax Report on a monthly basis and maintaining schedule of taxable use tax items.
  • Preparing Accounts Receivable Report detailing all past dues and balancing GL to AR.
  • Preparing month-end balance sheet review and reconciling any differences with Controller.
  • Assisting Controller in all budget preparation, input and balancing.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent numerical perception and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements.
  • Competent in cost accounting.
  • Travel is rare but as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • B.A. in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience, preferably in manufacturing; cost accounting experience a plus.
  • OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
