GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for providing maintenance services to the entire plant, primarily regarding issues involving the electrical problems. The technicians primary responsibility is line breakdowns involving electrical/automation systems. In addition, the position requires work on scheduled work orders and on down-time work including Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance work orders. The technician also works as a team member on his/her Maintenance crew, which includes Mechanical Maintenance.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responds to calls from the plant's process lines for electrical/automation breakdowns and makes necessary repairs to continue running the line(s). This includes troubleshooting both hardware and software systems that control the process machinery.
  2. Repairs or replaces defective or damaged components that affect any of the process lines. This includes identifying the part(s) needed, finding and retrieving the

part(s) from spares and installing the parts as needed.

  1. Completes work as assigned on Maintenance work orders. This includes any type of Maintenance work (electrical, mechanical, automation) and are performed either on downtime or while the machine is running.
  2. Fills out daily reports on work completed and are logged by the Maintenance Shift

Leader on the Maintenance Scheduled Work Report.

  1. Reports major equipment problems requiring engineering services to the Engineer assigned to the particular area in question.
  2. Fills out calibration logs for critical instrumentation calibrations and fills out PM Check Sheets, where required.
  3. Performs Housekeeping in all areas of the plant as assigned.
  4. Performs miscellaneous jobs assigned either verbally or written by the supervisor, engineers, group lead or manager(s).

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Other duties as assigned either verbally or in writing by Supervisors, Engineers, or

Managers of the Maintenance Department.


MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  1. A Minimum of a High School Degree or Equivalent (GED)
  2. Two year technical college degree in electronics or a field relating to

Industrial Automation.

  1. Experience in Industrial or Commercial Electrical Installation and/or troubleshooting. Requires a basic knowledge of building wiring, substation operation and industrial wiring/systems (mcc's switchgear).

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 Mobility in plant.

 Communication abilities

 Mobility: Stand (stationary) - 25%, stand/walk - 45%, walking - 15%, sitting - 15%.

 Strength and Agility: Lifting - occ. - 80#, carrying - occ. 150 ft., push/pull - occ. -

 Dexterity: Grasping (firm/strong), finger dexterity/handling, reaching.

 Ability to work a rotating shift (rotating from days to nights on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule).
