The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader that provides guidance, facilitation, and coaching to the Agile Release Train using a Lean-Agile mindset. They facilitate ART-level processes and execution. They escalate impediments, mitigate risks, and help drive continuous improvement for the ART.

We're seeking an exceptionally talented Release Train Engineer with focus on the following:

What you'll do…

  • Optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train.
  • Prepare the release train for Program Increment (PI) planning, facilitate the event itself, and summarize team PI objectives into product PI objectives.
  • Plan and facilitate other train-level events including Scrum of Scrums, demos, synchs, and Inspect & Adapt.
  • Share an agile mindset with a focus on Lean Agile principles.
  • Provide a safe space which promotes continuous improvement and learning.
  • Contribute to the advancement and improvement of agile practices within the organization including supporting guidance from the Product and Agile Center of Excellence.
  • Work with Agile Coaches and other Scrum Masters to coordinate coaching plans across the release train to deliver quality products and business value, fostering high-performing teams.
  • Understand meaningful metrics to track, how to interpret them, and how to accordingly adjust when indicated. Share the metrics with the product and portfolio in an understandable fashion.
  • Serve the Scrum Master community as a primary escalation contact.
  • Collaborate with other RTEs on risks, impediments, and dependencies across product teams and Agile Release Trains.
  • Align and work together with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.
  • Escalate and track impediments impacting the overall release train, guiding toward resolutions.
  • Assist with managing risks and dependencies, addressing critical bottlenecks, and tracking the execution of features and capabilities.

What you'll need… 

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of experience leading digital teams in a professional environment including:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Release Train Engineer for an ART of 6+ teams.
  • SAFe certification as an RTE highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Lean-Agile mindset, using various methodologies, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum, Kanban, and XP.
  • Ability to utilize agile metrics for improvement, visual flow of work, and to highlight risks to deliverables.
  • Experience using Jira and Aha, or similar tools.
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and agile coaching skills.
  • Ability to explain and communicate problems, issues, and improvement plans to various stakeholders.
**Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.**
