Key Job Elements

• Directly supervises aviation flight crew;
• Conduct preflight, post-flight and in-flight functions;
• Complete route and weather briefing before each flight;
• Conducts visual aircraft examination and inspection to ensure mechanical air-worthiness;
• During flights maintains radio contact with ground controlling stations and secures all necessary information to make accurate assessments of flight conditions and necessary flight changes;
• Continually monitors engine and flight instrumentation and functioning of navigational and flight control systems;
• Responsible for supervising the boarding and deplaning of passengers when a Flight Attendant is not assigned to the flight;
• Responsible for aircraft refueling when away from home base;
• Responsible for passenger and cargo safety as well as the safety and conduct of the flight crews;
• Uses absolute authority to delay, cancel or discontinue flights or to initiate flight changes as warranted;
• Provides safe aircraft operation to protect passengers, cargo and aircraft, and assisting in providing maximum passenger comfort consistent with flying conditions;
• Contributes to the total efficiency of aircraft operations through completion of duties assigned by the Chief Pilot and maintains the stated qualification requirements;
• Complies with established policies and regulations;
• Responsible for all duties associated with Captain and Copilot positions;
• Represents company or designates representative to attend aviation-oriented meetings, seminars and conventions;
• Represents division in correspondence with various associations and comments on pending state and federal legislation;
• Ensures pilots meet all current regulations, and manages updating their flight status, operational needs and other requirements.

Education / Training

• Must have an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) rating with appropriate type rating along with 3000 hours flight time;
• Bachelor’s Degree Business, Human Resources or related field of study is preferred.

Qualifications and Experience

• Requires detailed knowledge of FAA and company regulations that cover requirements for flight operations, airport facilities and meteorological conditions;
• Must pass numerous ongoing proficiency checks, tests and flight/simulator testing and training;
• Requires very good judgment and alertness, and strong communications and human relations skills;
• A minimum of 5+ years’ pilot experience;
• Strong ability to multi-task;
• Experience managing and leading teams;
• Possess excellent interpersonal and cognitive skills;
• Must be able to work any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
• Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and/or crawl;
• Able to sit without standing for long periods of time.
Capable of lifting or moving items at different heights weighing up to 50 pounds;
• Able to adhere to the visual demands set in the medical standards established by the FAA;
• Able to hear clearly verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset with ambient aircraft and passenger noise;
• Possess the stamina needed to work long days, on sequential days, with frequent change in temperatures, climate and weather conditions;
• Must be able to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively and quickly in confined environment;
• Must be able to sit in pilot’s seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
