Salary:

The Certified Activities Therapist plans, directs, and coordinates medically approved activities within the psychiatric program schedule for patients within the facility. The activities include leisure skills, social activities, physical/exercise, music-based activities, cognitive challenges, and arts and crafts. This role assesses the patients’ leisure, social, and recreation status as part of the overall biopsychosocial assessment process. This role participates as a member of the treatment team; formulating goals and interventions based off the identified needs of the patients’ condition and recommends appropriate recreational activity.  This role provides groups aimed at development of the patient’s social, leisure, and physical needs. The Activity Therapist demonstrates the ability to accurately provide the groups and document the patient’s response to the interventions and incorporates the response to the group interventions into the patient’s plan of care. The Activity Therapist provides support to the clinical department through teamwork and input into the patient’s overall psychosocial needs.


Preferred background in the following: educational instructor, registered occupational therapist, certified occupational therapy assistant, certified therapeutic recreation specialist, certified therapeutic recreation assistant, speech-language pathologist with certificate of clinical competence, registered and certified music therapist, registered art therapist, and registered physical therapist.


Education/License: Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field or license from an approved certification program.


Experience: Minimum one year experience performing duties in a healthcare setting, preferred.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Proficient knowledge of computers and electronic charting records.
  • Proficient knowledge of psychiatric and medical diagnosis and conditions.

 

Must have: 

  • Social Security Card and State issued driver's license or ID.
  • CPR, Basic Life Support.
  • Verification of education.
  • Copy of professional license if applicable.
  • Behavioral Management Training.
