Job Description
Summary
Performs all equipment and building/maintenance functions including, but not limited to, repair and renovation of physical plant. The repair, maintenance, calibration and/or fabrication of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment at our 40,000 sq. ft. bakery facility that produces pies across multiple production lines. You will ensure the highest levels of reliability and efficiency across production lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on production machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting for wear and tear.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
- Document maintenance activities and maintain logs for all equipment.
- Set up, adjust, and calibrate machinery for different food production processes.
- Ensure equipment operates within specified parameters to maintain quality product quality and safety.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair requests.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize production interruptions.
- Comply with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Inspect and maintain safety guards and devices on machinery.
- Participate in safety training programs.
- Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed.
- Keep track of spare parts usage and report inventory levels.
- Work closely with production staff to ensure equipment readiness and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge and skills.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Provide input for maintenance reports and equipment performance analysis.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Suggest process improvements and cost-saving measures.
- Be available after-hours or on-call maintenance duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications
- High sense of urgency
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent. Technical degree or certification – a plus.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience and/or training
- Plant machinery maintenance experience – preferred.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, automation, and control systems – a plus.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (SQF, GMP)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft products – Outlook, Word, Excel
